The women in my family have been working with ceramics for generations, I spent my childhood surrounded by pottery and clay. After finishing high school, I moved to Phnom Penh to attend a pottery school. However, when I returned to my hometown in Kompong Chhnang province, there was no work for me. My parents have a small business there but there is only a fire circle in the village which means that we could not paint any of the ceramics. I decided to move 300 km away to Siem Reap where I started working as a manager in a pottery company. After three years of running a business for someone else, I realised that I had the necessary skills and experience to start my own business. This is how Morodock Ceramics was born. Joining AHA gave me the opportunity to connect with different traders. We currently have 25 employees and sell ceramics to 30 different hotels and restaurants in Siem Reap, Phnom Penh and Battambang.

Pottery is more than just a job for me, it is my passion. I love the traditional designs used in pottery and my first love is the old style, but as an artist, I enjoy experimenting with new styles and designs. I spend a lot of time researching designs in books and I often visit museums and the temples in Angkor Wat to find inspiration. I like to combine ancient designs with new elements. Once I have a design in mind, I teach it to the other artisans.

Someday, I would love to study in Thailand to experience a new culture and learn about new designs.
